Blue Infinity Photo Album (BIPA) tutorial

Blue Infinity Phooto Album is fast and smooth image viewer and photo album. It is available both for android smartphones and tablets. Tablet version uses tablet optimized user interface.

Upon first start OEvent will scan for all images on your SD Card. This can take some time because unlike some other apps there, which only create thumbnails, Blue Infinity Photo Album also searches your photos for keyword, ratings, and some other EXIF data.
This is why in contrast to most android apps, Blue Infinity Photo Album (BIPA) can sort by real EXIF date, not just by file system date/time.
Also, BIPA can find keywords (tags) and ratings that other applications (for example IdImager) saved into your images, so that you can tag images even outside this app (on PC for example), and then save them to your SD Card.
Basic operations
Blue Infinity Photo Album has a little different user interface on pre-Honeycomb devices and smartphones/tablets with Honeycomb or later.
Selecting images
In the list of images view you can select one or more images. You can then perform various operations on selected images.
On pre-Honeycomb devices you can invoke context menu with operations by long pressing particular image. If you want to select multiple images you need to press the checkbox first. On Honeycomb and later devices, just long press on one image, and you will be taken to selection mode.
Basic operations
Once you have selected images, you can perform various operations, like editing tags, set rating, rotate, share images and so on. Here you can also add images to albums, or protect them.
Either long press one image (pre-Honeycomb devices) or select desired operation from Action Bar (Honeycomb and later devices).
Modes
Blue Infinity photo Album has 5 different modes: folders, albums, protected folders, tags and ratings. Each of these modes serves a little different purpose.
You can select mode by clicking on mode button (smartphones) or navigation list (tablets).
Folders
Folders mode is simple browser mode. It is default mode. You will see list of folders which contains images on your SD Card. By clicking on a folder, you will get list of images in that folder.
Albums
Albums are basically groups of images. You can add images from different folders to the same album. When you add image to an album, image is not copied (duplicated), so albums do not waste additional space on your SD Card.
You can add images to albums by selecting images in the folder mode (or in other modes) and long pressing one image (on smartphones) and then selecting "Add images to album" from
Protected folders
Protected folders protect your images from other people. These images are not visible from other applications, and you can only access them from Blue Infinity Photo Album if you know correct password.
Other apps also can not see these images.
Unlike other some other image viewers, BIPA can protect individual images and not just folders. It does not just add .nomedia file to your protected folder.
Tags
In this mode you can see images grouped by tags. Clicking on tag will display all images with this tag.
Rating
In this mode you can see images grouped by ratings. Clicking on a rating will display all images with this rating.
Image viewer
When viewing images, you have all the normal operations like switching between images with flipping gesture. You can also zoom in/out images with pinch to zoom and you can start the slideshow.
Save zoom/position
However there is one other feature which is not available in any other app. You can save current zoom/position of every image. Imaging you have one image for which you don't like the layout. You could crop it, but that would change your original image, or you can use this feature. You can zoom/pan image as you like and then save that zoom/pan. After you have saved zoom/pan, image will not be changed on SD Card, but it will always be opened in that particular zoom/position, just as if the image has been cropped.

Settings
Most of the settings are self explanatory, but here is description of some advanced or more interesting settings. You can access settings page from any view mode by pressing menu key (pre-Honeycomb), or from Action Bar (Honeycomb and later)
Settings->General->Folders to scan
This is list of all folders that will be scanned for images. Normally if you have only one storage in your device you won't have to change this. However, some devices have both internal and external storage, and in such cases sometimes you will have to manually add path to one of those storages.
Settings->General->Excluded folders
List of folders that you don't want to scan for images. Images in these folders will be ignored.
Settings->Layout and drawing->Draw square thumbnails
Blue Infinity Photo Album can either crop your thumbnails to a square, or leave them with correct aspect ratio. Unlike some other apps which have this feature, in BIPA you do not have to recreate thumbnails if you switch between square/non square thumbnails.
Settings->Columns - portrait (or landscape)
When image browser is in list view, you can select how many columns to view separately for portrait and landscape mode of your device. This is more useful on tablets where you have large displays.
